Put a loose wrap on the dogs paw which will protect it against infection.

Dogs know what is best for dogs his licking the wound will keep it clean and infection free.
The original wounded area seems fine slightly pink but no puss no funny smell etc.
It s not too uncommon for swelling to occur after a wrap.

It is no different than putting a tight bandage on your finger it is going to swell up.
