A safer course is to also have a camera in the garage get a notification if the garage door is left open for more than 15 minutes and then to manually check the camera and if warranted to close the garage door.
I have it set to notify me when opened and to notify again in 30 min if not closed.

I have the gd00z garage door controller and i love being able to close it remotely if left open.
The iris z wave garage door controller gd 00z 1 along with smartthings allows you to remotely open close and monitor your garage door.
In looking at the works with smartthings page it seems that there isn t an opener that inherently connects to smartthings as there are only 2 add on devices that connect to it gocontrol and iris.
I can but then i configured the thing as garage door no magnet from the start.
